For Immediate Release:
PROGAYJOBS LAUNCHES ENHANCED WEB SITE
FIRST E-RECRUITMENT SITE DEDICATED TO GAY AND
LESBIAN DIVERSITY HIRING
IMPROVES "MATCHMAKER" AND DATABASE SEARCH
CAPABILITIES
SAN FRANCISCO (July 10, 2002) -- ProGayJobs, the
first online company dedicated entirely to gay and lesbian jobseekers and
employers who seek to diversify their workforces, today announces the launch of
its enhanced and redesigned Web site. In addition to a fresh look, the
site, www.progayjobs.com, offers new features to jobseekers and employers alike.
ProGayJobs provides job postings from companies
that promote diversity and provide a safe, open environment for gay and lesbian
workers. The company enables employers to survey talent from the gay
community, and jobseekers to identify quality firms committed to honoring their
individuality.
In addition to the redesign, the enhanced
ProGayJobs site now provides employers and jobseekers with additional tools and
services such as "MatchMaker," a continuous auto responder instantly informing
jobseekers and employers of potential employment matches. Another exciting
feature is the "Advanced
Search," which allows users to
search by type of employment sought(e.g contract, part-time, full-time),
location (e.g. state or city), industry, salary level, and keywords.
"The majority of the gay and lesbian
workforce is highly educated, brand-loyal, and rich with talent " said
David Bach, CEO and founder of ProGayJobs. Employers recognize the value
of a gay and lesbian presence in their workplace and the importance of a
commitment to diversity in the workforce. ProGayJobs provides a healthy
applicant pool for employers seeking the best of the best. "Diversity
hiring continues to be on the rise," Bach continued, "and employers
are realizing the tremendous benefits of an open and diverse work environment -
it's good business and translates to increased profitability."
Increasingly, major corporations such as Sun
Microsystems, Levi's, Citibank and Subaru, to name only a few, have focused
marketing efforts on the GLBT community and augmented company policies to
include benefits such as recognition of domestic partnership.
According to the Human Rights Campaign, 3,572 United States companies, colleges
and government organizations have diversity and domestic partner benefit
policies in place -- a 25 percent increase over last year.
Upgrades to ProGayJobs.com include:
For Jobseekers: Free of charge, users can conduct specialized searches, keep
track of resumes, applications, utilize our proprietary Matchmaker system, and
access helpful job-seeking information such as recommendations on resume
presentation and online resume marketing tips. Jobseekers can research
companies' specific diversity policies and the unique work environments they
provide.
For Employers: For a nominal fee, employers can post jobs, search our resume
database and utilize our proprietary Matchmaker system. ProGayJobs works
with employers across the nation to help implement diversity policies and
domestic partner benefits. The company also provides useful tools and
information to help employers provide safe and open environments for their
employees.
ProGayJobs also publishes an online newsletter
reporting on current issues and events in the employment arena and providing a
question and answer forum to assist gay and lesbian employees and
diversity-focused employers.
ProGayJobs is committed to serving the GLBT
community through their Community Partners Program which allows non-profits to
post jobs and advertise for free on the site. Charter members of this
program include San Francisco Aids Foundation, The San Francisco Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual and Transgender Community Center, and StopAids Project.
ProGayJobs is offered to companies locally and nationally that share the
principles of diversity and fairness in the workplace.
